WHAT WE DO

RAILROAD TIE PROCESSING FOR ENERGY RECOVERY

Renergy helps give retired railroad ties a useful next chapter. We receive and process ties into an alternative fuel product, connecting railroad material management needs with demand from qualified energy users.

RAILROAD TIE RECEIVING AND PROCESSING

When ties are removed from service, their next destination matters. Renergy provides an outlet for retired railroad ties and processes that material for use as fuel. Start a conversation about your material, estimated volume, and location to discuss receiving and processing options.

FUEL PREPARED FOR A DEFINED END USE

Our product is processed railroad tie fuel intended for Permitted Offtakers and other approved energy users. We focus on consistency and the quality considerations needed to connect processed material with a suitable end user. Contact us to discuss available fuel information and your facility requirements.

ALTERNATIVE FUEL

CDF (CROSSTIE DERIVED FUEL)

The Renergy Team are seen as the subject matter experts to safely dispose of our client’s railroad ties. Renergy has the knowledge and expertise regarding State & Federal regulations, and we will ensure a safe and compliant solution for your tie disposal needs.

Renergy is converting retired railroad ties into an alternative fuel source to help our clients end their dependency on Coal, Fossil Fuel, and Petroleum Coke. This process classifies the material as NHSM (non-hazardous secondary materials) that is exempt from solid waste designation per 40 CFR 241.3.

RAILROAD TIE DISPOSAL

Renergy has the capacity and throughput to process over 4,000 railroad ties a day. Renergy’s recycling process saves our clients 3.06 lbs of carbon per railroad tie. Renergy’s CDF is much less carbon intensive than traditional fossil fuels. Material recovery has other benefits beyond waste reduction such as: Cost Savings, Environmental Impact, & Regulatory Compliance.

LOGISTICS THAT CONNECT SUPPLY AND DEMAND

A useful fuel product also needs a workable path from material source to energy user. Renergy focuses on the logistics required to connect railroad and energy partners at scale. Location, volume, timing, and facility needs are central to that conversation.

PUT EXISTING MATERIAL TO PRODUCTIVE USE

Energy recovery gives retired ties another use after their years in the rail network. When processed the fuel substitutes for coal at a qualified facility, it can reduce the amount of coal needed for that use.
